What is Stay And Play?
This is an 8 week course which
focuses on the value of play for
children's development and the role
parents can have in that play.
Topics include - The value of play:
How parents can help their
children's development,
Communication, Encouragement,
Movement and Music.
Who would benefit from the
programme?
Any parent with a child under 5
years.
Where are the groups run?
In a variety of venues. It has
recently been conjointly run with an
Early Years Centre, in a community
centre, and it is planned to deliver
the course in Playgroups.
What format does the programme take?
Each session lasts 2 hours. For
the first 75 minutes the parents
talk about the topic. For the next
45 minutes parents, children and
staff join in together and try play
ideas. At the end, we sing songs.
