GETTING THROUGH THE DAY

WHAT IS GETTING THROUGH THE DAY?

This is a 10 week course (the length can be adjusted to suit agencies and parental need). The course focuses on behaviour management, using essentially a cognitive-behavioural approach. The course covers gender roles, children's play, communication, encouragement (resilience), dealing with conflict and a range of ideas on behaviour management.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM GETTING THROUGH THE DAY?

Parents with children under 5 years, although it can be relevant for primary school children as well.

WHERE ARE THE GROUPS RUN?

Various venues, including Community Centres, Early Learning Centres etc.

WHAT FORMAT DOES THE PROGRAMME TAKE?

Each session is two hours. Weekly programmes include worksheets, "homework" sheets and handouts. The course is largely discussion based with a number of group exercises.

HOW CAN I ACCESS GETTING THROUGH THE DAY?

Referral through Sure Start.

IS THERE A CHARGE?

No.
